<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for a steel cord cover, a breaker edge strip, a breaker cushion or a strip adjacent to a cord capable of improving steering stability, low fuel consumption, elongation at break, adhesiveness to a steel cord, workability and durability of a tire in a well-balanced manner even if the ratio of the content of zinc oxide to the content of sulfur is below a specific value, and to provide a pneumatic tire using the rubber composition.SOLUTION: There is provided a rubber composition for a steel cord cover, a breaker edge strip, a breaker cushion or a strip adjacent to a cord which contains an insoluble sulfur having an iron content of 30 ppm or less and in which the ratio of the content of zinc oxide to the content of sulfur is 1.45 to 1.78, the content of sulfur is 3.0 to 6.0 pts.mass, the content of cobalt is 0.05 to 0.15 pts.mass, and the total amount of the amount of the stearic acid component calculated from (A) stearic acid and (B) cobalt stearate (in terms of the amount of stearic acid) and the amount of (C) a mixture of a zinc salt of an aliphatic carboxylic acid and a zinc salt of an aromatic carboxylic acid is 0.5 to 1.5 pts.mass, based on 100 pts.mass of the rubber component.</p> |
