The present invention addresses the problem of providing a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery which is suppressed in increase in the direct-current resistance after being left at relatively high temperatures with low remaining battery power. The present invention provides, as a means for solving this problem, a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery which is provided with an electrolyte and a positive electrode that has a particulate positive electrode active material. The positive electrode active material contains a nickel-containing lithium transition metal oxide, and has an average particle diameter of 3-15 μm. The electrolyte contains a cyclic sulfuric acid ester compound that has a specific structure.
