An electrically insulated hose 1 e.g. of P.T.F.E. is made capable of resisting distortion due to external pressure by means of spaced metal rings 2, 3, 4 e.g. of low carbon steel, surrounding and contiguous with the outer surface of the hose, and secured around the hose by crimping or swaging. The rings may be compressed to have the same internal diameter as the external diameter of the hose or may be compressed to a smaller diameter, Fig. 2, and may have rectangular, oval or other wall secsuch that inward distortion of the hose at one point due to external pressure produces external distortion at an adjacent point. |
