PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an acicular strontium carbonate fine powder having excellent dispersibility in a hydrophobic organic solvent used as a solvent for a polymer resin, which is a fine powder of acicular strontium carbonate particles useful as a filler for an optical resin material.SOLUTION: There is provided a fine powder of acicular strontium carbonate particles, which has an average length of a major axis of 150 nm or less and an average aspect ratio of 1.5 or more and in which a content of acicular particles having a major axis length of 200 nm or more is 5% or less on a number basis, wherein a surface of the acicular strontium carbonate particles is treated with a polycarboxylic acid having a polyoxyalkylene group on the side chain or its anhydride and an amine having a polyoxyalkylene group and a hydrocarbyl group.
