<p>Provided is an ion generation device capable of reducing the noise level of the discharge sound without reducing the generated ion concentration. The ion generation device comprises: induction electrodes (8a, 8b); discharge electrodes (7a, 7b) for generating ions between the discharge electrodes (7a, 7b) and the induction electrodes (8a, 8b); and a voltage application circuit (40) for applying a pulse-shaped voltage to the discharge electrodes (7a, 7b). The voltage application circuit (40) includes: a transformer (22) for boosting voltage and applying the boosted voltage to the discharge electrodes (7a, 7b); resisters (24a, 24b) connected between the discharge electrodes (7a, 7b) and the transformer (22); and capacitors (25a, 25b) arranged in parallel with a current path constituted by the resisters (24a, 24b), the discharge electrodes (7a, 7b), and the induction electrodes (8a, 8b). When the electrostatic capacitance generated by the discharge electrodes (7a, 7b) and the induction electrodes (8a, 8b) is set to CA, the electrostatic capacitance of the capacitors is set to CB, and the resistance is set to R, the time constant constituted by R × CA × CB/(CA + CB) is set to minimize the harmonic component of the pulse-shaped voltage.</p> |
