In order to be mounted to a vehicle that performs regenerative braking and in order to effectively prevent deterioration of a lead battery and prolong the life of same, a power supply device for vehicles supplies power to an electric device and to a starter motor (22) that starts the vehicle engine (21), and is charged by the power generated by the regenerative braking of the vehicle. The power supply device for vehicles comprises a lead battery (1) and an auxiliary battery (2) connected in parallel to this lead battery (1). The auxiliary battery (2) has a greater reduction in discharge resistance relative to temperature increase than the lead battery (1) and has a smaller heat capacity than the lead battery (1).
