A rudder for a ship is disclosed. The rudder for a ship according to an embodiment of the present invention has a cross-sectional shape with a width gradually increased from the front end toward the rear end, but gradually decreased from a point having maximum width to the rear end. When a distance from the front end to the rear end is C, a linear displacement from the front end toward the rear end is X, a half width at the displacement X is T, and the maximum half width of the cross-section is Tmax, the cross-sectional shape has the radius of curvature at the front end which is 8.2 times as large as (Tmax/C)^2, T/Tmax at the rear end which is 0.15, the inclination at the rear end which is 1.87 times as large as a virtual linear inclination for connecting the point having the maximum width and the rear end, and the point having the maximum width which is located at 32% of the full length (C). |
