927,481. Thermometers. AMP Inc. Oct. 12, 1960 [Oct. 26, 1959], No. 34891/60. Addition to 866,528. Drawings to Specification. Class 97 (3). [Also in Group XXXVI] A tin salt of 4-methyl-1,2-dimercaptobenzene dispersed in a suitable carrier lacquer is used as a temperature change detector for electrical modular units. A narrow strip or coating of the tin salt, which exhibits a reversible colour variation is first applied to an exposed surface of an electrical modular unit (see Group XXXVI) during its factory pre-testing. While the unit is running satisfactorily at its operating temperature the colour assumed by the temperaturesensitive material is noted and adjacent to it a second strip or coating of a temperatureinsensitive material such as a paint or dye is then applied, the colour of the latter matching the observed colour of the temperature-sensitive material. Thus any deviation between the colours of the two strips during operation of the unit is an indication of temperature change of the unit. Specifications 927,483, 927,484 and 927,485 also are referred to.
|
