<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder liner for an internal combustion engine capable of reducing thermal loss of a liner upper portion near a combustion chamber, and coping with thermal deformation.SOLUTION: In a cylinder liner 1 for an internal combustion engine, at least a part at a combustion chamber side with respect to a top ring 4, of a top dead center position is composed of a spray portion 5 of a heat insulating material continued from an inner periphery to an outer periphery over the whole circumference in the circumferential direction. A main component of the heat insulating material of the spray portion 5 is preferably Zr or Fe. A method of manufacturing the cylinder liner includes forming an annular groove on an outer peripheral face, filling the annular groove with a spray material composed of the heat insulating material, by spraying, and exposing the spray portion to an inner peripheral face by processing the inner peripheral face.</p> |
