<p>[Problem] In an endoscope that illuminates through an optical transmission path, to adequately secure an output region for illumination light and to suppress reduction of the illumination region even when the diameter of an insertion part is small and the corners of the distal peripheral edge thereof are chamfered. [Solution] An endoscope (1) having an insertion part (3) in which the corners of the distal peripheral edge thereof are chamfered, the endoscope (1) comprising outer tubes (13, 14) that form the outer circumference of the insertion part, a transparent distal end cover (22) that forms at least the distal peripheral edge of the insertion part, and an optical transmission cable (42) that is disposed inside the outer tubes and guides light from a light source to the tip of the insertion part. The distal end cover comprises a front face (22a) that is formed by chamfering and a rear face (22b) that is disposed on the outer tube side, and a recess part (35, 36) having a concave face is formed on either the front face and/or the rear face. The output end (42a) of the optical transmission cable is disposed facing the recess part, and the illumination light that is output from the distal end cover is diffused to the outside.</p> |
