The system (10) has a fuel storage region (14) for storing fuel. A fuel suction region (16) provides the fuel to be sucked. A fuel supply pump (18) conveys the fuel from the fuel suction region to a fuel injection pump (22). A filtering apparatus (44) supplies the filtered fuel from the supply region into the suction region by utilizing the injection pump. A conveying device (40) is arranged in the filtering apparatus. The supply region and the suction region are arranged in a fuel tank (12). An overflow region (48) returns excess fuel from the suction region back to the supply region. The fuel supply region and the fuel suction region are designed as spatial separate fluid regions.
