A seat slide device for a vehicle comprises: a first rail (3) having a first transverse wall part (12), first longitudinal wall parts (11), and first flanges (13); and a second rail (4) having second longitudinal wall parts (14) and second flanges (16). The second longitudinal wall parts (14) and the second flanges (16) are connected by connecting wall parts (16c). First ball guides (18) are formed in the regions where the first transverse wall part (12) and the first longitudinal wall parts (11) link together, and second ball guides (19) are formed in the proximal end regions of the second flanges (16). First balls (20a) are disposed between the first and second ball guides. Restraining members (17) are provided protruding in the first transverse wall part (12), and the restraining members (17) function so as to diminish the vertical gaps between the connecting wall parts (16c) and the first transverse wall part (12). When the second longitudinal wall parts (14) deform as a result of a load applied so as to create pressure force between the first balls (20a) and the second rail (4), the restraining members (17) can come in contact with the connecting wall parts (16c). |
