PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure of an oil pump, and a method of assembling a relief valve mechanism to the oil pump, capable of reducing a size and a weight of the oil pump, and improving efficiency.SOLUTION: In a structure of an oil pump 18 incorporating a relief valve mechanism 35 for communicating an oil discharge passage 32 of the oil pump 18 with an oil suction passage 30 to return an oil, the oil discharge passage 32 and the oil suction passage 30 formed in an oil pump body 25 of the oil pump 18 are communicated through a communication space 34, and the relief valve mechanism 35 is disposed in a state of being assembled in the oil suction passage 30 while facing the oil discharge passage 32 from an upstream-side opening portion 30a of the oil suction passage 30 in an intersecting direction orthogonal to a pump driving shaft of the oil pump 18, in a state that the oil discharge passage 32 and the oil suction passage 30, and a residual oil circulation route 44 from a residual oil inlet 45 of a cylindrical relief valve body 36 to a residual oil outlet 46 are disposed on the common same plane. |
