PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical film capable of achieving both a thinner and harder polarizing plate protective film and improving durability of a polarizing plate, and to provide a polarizing plate and a liquid crystal display device.SOLUTION: The optical film is a cellulose acylate film comprising cellulose acylate and a sugar ester compound having at least one aromatic group, and has a film thickness of 15 to 35 μm. The number density of aromatic groups of the sugar ester compound is 0.9×10mol or more and 5.00×10mol or less per 1 g solid content of the cellulose acylate film.
