PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser processing unit capable of stabilizing time for processing a work piece, and to provide a packing device using the same.SOLUTION: A laser processing unit 2 includes: a support part 20 for supporting a sheet-like packing material 4 whose surface is processed; and a laser head part 22 provided at a side of an irradiation surface 21 to which a laser beam is applied. The laser processing unit applies the laser beam to the irradiation surface 21 of the packing material 4 to process the irradiation surface 21. In the laser processing unit 2, a space part 27 is provided at a side of an opposite surface 26 that is an opposite side of a laser irradiation possible region 25 in the irradiation surface 21 of the packing material 4.
