[Also in Group XIII] In a method of securing apertured discs 2 at axially spaced intervals within a heat exchange tube to produce turbulence in the fluid flowing in the tube, the discs are assembled on an elongated carrier at the desired uniform intervals. The carrier is then inserted within a tube and the discs secured to the tube, e.g. by swaging, dimpling or upsetting the tube around the periphery of the disc, or by securing with solder or resinous adhesive. The carrier may then be withdrawn from the tube or it may be dissolved in situ. In a modification, the discs are formed integrally with a carrier which remains in the tube after the discs are secured therein.
