The invention relates to a propellant device (100) for exerting a propelling force on a vehicle, which generates momentum by means of a piston (20, 20') having a non-zero mass, the acceleration of which is provided by a force taking effect on a structure of the vehicle and the braking of which is carried out separately in said propellant device, without applying any force to the vehicle. In one embodiment, a piston (20, 20') moves in a cross-shaped cavity (10, 10') in which said piston is moved from a reference position to an end of a cylindrical portion of the cavity where said piston is stopped by a gas that same compresses adiabatically and the cross is rotated one quarter turn before the piston is released in order to return to the reference position. In another embodiment, the propellant device comprises two cross-shaped cavities rotating in opposite directions. |
