PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin cellulose acylate film capable of achieving high frontal contrast while preventing display unevenness when assembled in a liquid crystal display device.SOLUTION: The cellulose acylate film comprises cellulose acylate having a total acyl group substitution degree of 2.1 to 2.6 and satisfies the following conditions (1) to (4). (1) The film includes at least one polycondensation ester containing an aromatic dicarboxylic acid residue and an aliphatic diol residue, in which a proportion of the aromatic dicarboxylic acid residue with respect to the whole dicarboxylic acid residues in the polycondensation ester is 70 mol% or more; (2) the film has a thickness of 15 to 45 μm; (3) a retardation (Rth) in a thickness direction at a wavelength of 550 nm satisfies Rth/d≥0.0025, where d represents a film thickness (nm); and (4) an absolute value of a change in Rth in a water contact test is 5 nm or less.
