PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording and reproducing device, which can obtain an appropriate push-pull signal from a returned guide laser beam, and favourably record and reproduce management information for the guide layer by using a recording and reproduction laser beam while avoiding interference to a recording layer.SOLUTION: A recording medium (11) is formed by stacking a guide layer (12) irradiated with a guide laser beam (LB1) of wavelength in the range of 630 nm to 680 nm and a recording layer (13) irradiated with a recording and reproduction laser beam (LB2) of wavelength in the range of 400 nm to 410 nm. The guide layer has a lamination structure formed by stacking a recording film (122), dielectric films (121, 124) and a reflection film (125). The reflection film has smaller refractive index to the guide laser beam than refractive index to the recording and reproduction laser beam, and the dielectric films each has refractive index of 2.0 or greater to the recording and reproduction laser beam. |
