The ignition switch mounting tool (1) has an elongated handle portion (13') with a handle end (13), where a maximum diameter of the handle portion is smaller than a diameter of the predetermined ignition switch mounting recess. The handle portion has a minimum length to be temporarily fixed in the ignition switch mounting recess. An engaging unit (11') is present at an engaging end (11) averted from the handle end. The engaging unit is connected with an ignition switch. An independent claim is included for an ignition switch mounting method for a motor vehicle.
