The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for estimating a state of charging (SOC) of a battery. The apparatus for estimating an SOC of a battery according to the present invention comprises an input/output power pattern analyzing unit analyzing input/output power of a battery for a pre-set period of time to obtain an input/output power pattern of the battery; an application state determining unit analyzing the input/output power pattern of the battery to determine a current application state of the battery; and an SOC calculating unit calculating an SOC of the battery using an SOC estimation algorithm corresponding to the current application state of the battery. |
