[Problem] To provide a bearing device for a wheel with improved durability by preventing crack formation during face spline machining with the use of a simple structure. [Solution] Provided is a bearing device for a wheel, wherein face splines (19a, 13a) are respectively formed on a shoulder part (19) of an outer joint member (14) and an end face of a swage part (13), both of the face splines are pressed together and supported by a fastening bolt (21) that is screwed to a female thread (20a) of a shaft part (20), and multiple rows of rolling bearings (2) and a constant-velocity universal joint (3) are joined together, in a detachable manner in the shaft direction, so as to allow a torque to be transmitted therebetween. In this bearing device, the face spline (13a) of the swage part (13) is formed simultaneously with the swage part (13) by using a swaging jig during plastic working, and a chest wall (22a) having a predetermined tilt angle (α) is formed on the outermost diameter part of a tooth groove (22) of the face spline with the tooth height of the outermost diameter part being set lower than the remaining part. |
