PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and a control method therefor, and a program which enable quicker execution of a fail-safe function for shifting to a power state with a different power consumption volume.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 101 performs: determining a predetermined monitoring time in accordance with operation content of a user and a power state when a switch is operated by the user; setting an event of performing, when the monitoring time elapses, one of an operation for causing main control means to shut off power supply thereto and an operation for causing reset means to reset the main control means in accordance with the operation content of the user and the power state; and executing the set operation when the determined monitoring time elapses from a time when the switch is operated by the user in a state where processing for changing a power state executed in response to the operation of the switch by the user. |
