<p>This invention relates to a rotary internal combustion engine 100. The engine 100 includes a housing 102 which defines an inner cavity 14 and a first and second inlet/outlet pair 16a/18a, 16b, 18b. The engine 100 further includes three rotors, a first rotor 20 which is snugly received within the inner cavity 14 and rotatably mounted about a first rotation axis X, a second rotor 56 rotatably mounted about a second rotation axis Y and a third rotor 58 mounted about a third axis Z. The rotors 20, 56, 58 are arranged side-by-side and are configured to mesh upon relative angular displacement of adjacent rotors. Accordingly, each rotor has mating formations which are configured for mating engagement with the complementary mating formations of the adjacent rotor upon rotation of the rotors such that an internal combustion chamber is defined between the rotors upon engagement of the mating formations.</p> |
