PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a methyl phenol composition that gives a polyphenylene ether with an excellent color and has excellent solubility, and a method of producing a polyphenylene ether with high production efficiency by using the methyl phenol composition as a raw material.SOLUTION: In the methyl phenol composition, the water content is 10-700 ppm on weight basis. The methyl phenol composition comprises 2,6-dimethylphenol and/or 2,3,6-trimethylphenol. |
