PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel liquid crystal optical element.SOLUTION: The liquid crystal optical element includes a first substrate, a layered structure disposed above the first substrate and composed of a first electrode layer and a layer having a prism-like cross-sectional structure, a liquid crystal layer disposed above the layered structure, a second electrode layer disposed above the liquid crystal layer, and a second substrate disposed above the second electrode layer, in which at least one of the first substrate and the second substrate is a film substrate. |
