931,035. Crimping yarns. VEREINIGTE GLANZSTOFF-FABRIKEN A.G. Oct. 19, 1961 [Oct. 19, 1960], No. 37522/61. Drawings to Specification. Class 120 (3). Yarns composed of continuous individual filaments are continuously crimped by temporarily compressing i.e. forcibly accumulating or concentrating, and setting the initial twist already on the yarn as the yarn is pulled through a linear path. Thus, yarn having a slight initial S- or Z-twist may be allowed to travel in sequence through a twist-arrester, a (heat) setting device, and through or over a thread brake, comprising a pair of small, smooth plates urged towards one another, or a rounded edge constituting a twist-compression device (or a series of such devices having a cumulative twist concentrating effect) and, optionally, through a second twist-arrester.
