The present invention relates to the treatment of vascular disease in a diabetic patient using a drug-eluting implantable medical device that releases an mTOR inhibitor (e.g.,everolimus) from three distinctly loaded drug reservoir layers wherein at least one of the layers comprises at least 200 µg/cm2 of an mTOR inhibitor and further wherein the mTOR inhibitor is the only therapeutic agent in the layers or the layers or any combination thereof further comprise an anti-inflammatory agent or an RGD peptide or both. |
