An adaptive low dropout (LDO) regulator includes a load-based bias controller (204, 216, 302) that generates a bias control signal (ADP_BIAS) based on the output load current (I_LOAD), and has a differential amplifier (202) with a bias adjustment (206) that receives the bias control signal and responds by adjusting a bias (I_BIAS) of a transistor (M2, M4) within the differential amplifier. Optionally, the bias control signal is generated (302) according to a hysteresis rule (400). Optionally, the adaptive LOD regulator includes an adaptive load-based compensation network (208) having a zero, the zero having a location based, at least in part, one or more of a variable resistance (208-1) or variable capacitance (208-2) controlled (ADP_CMP) by the load-based bias controller.
|
