The method involves identifying and separating a regulation region (2). Contents are converted by optical character recognition in strings. Characters are replaced within the strings of the regulation region by regular printouts. The regular printouts are matched with data base entries of a medicament data base to identify medicament name e.g. Viatmin C, in a physician prescription (1) in the regulation region. The ordered medicament name is verified by adjusting the remaining string with medicament-specific information with the medicament name stored in a medicament data base.
