931,534. Control systems for incandescent lamps. ELECTRONIC DIMMER CORPORATION. April 13, 1961 [Feb. 17, 1961], No. 13326/61. Class 38 (4). A supply system for theatre lighting systems comprises a pair of reversely connected controlled solid state silicon rectifiers 25, 26, the firing points of which are controlled by way of magnetic amplifiers 20, 22, which include gating windings 30, 31, bias windings 32, 33 and control windings 19, 21, the brilliancy of the lamps being set by means of a potentiometer 11 which controls the current in the control windings 19, 21 by way of a series transistor 15 ; the system being provided with a current transformer 61 which supplies two circuits 23, 24, the circuit 23 being effective by way of a second transistor 65 to bias the control windings 19, 21 of the magnetic amplifiers so that during the warming- up period of the lamps only a small current is passed by the controlled rectifiers 25, 26 whilst the circuit 24 provides overload protection for these rectifiers, the circuit 24 including a Zener diode 86.
