A gland for an armoured cable comprises an externally tapered bush 2 which is pushed under the cut-back armouring 5, and a socket member 1 with one end 6 bored to a complementary taper and the other end 8 screw-threaded to receive another member 3 bored to fit over the insulating sheath 7 and counterbored at 10 to hold a spring 11 which presses on a flange 18 of bush 2 so that the wires 5 are gripped between the bush and tapered bore 6. The member 3 has a screwed spigot 4 for attachment to a junction box, and the end 6 of member 1 is fitted with a neoprene waterproofing thimble 13. The gland is self-locking, and therefore a tube 16 screwed into the end of bush 2 is needed to raise the bush against the spring and release the cable armouring. |
