According to an embodiment of the present invention, the router includes: a connection processing unit for processing connection by applying IP address to a user terminal which requests connection; and a service processing unit for analyzing image requests received from the user terminal, transmitting real time images received from a network camera to the user terminal if it is a real time request, and transmitting the received stored images to the user terminal by requesting an image storage service server if it is a stored image request. According to another embodiment of the present invention, the method for providing image transmission services in a router comprises the following steps: transmitting images received from at least one network camera to the image storage service server; processing connection for the user terminal requesting connection; checking a kind of image requests by receiving an image request from the terminal; transmitting real time images received from the network camera to the user terminal if it is determined to be a real time request; and transmitting the received stored images to the user terminal by requesting the same to the image storage service server if it is determined to be a stored image request.
