Improvements in methods of mounting diamonds

A brazing metal for fixing a diamond in a metal holder comprises Ti and Cu or Ag. A base alloy comprising 72% Ag and 28% Cu may be melted under a pressure of 0.1 to 1.0 mm. of mercury and Ti added thereto in amount at least 1% but not more than 15% of the amount of base alloy. The alloy is melted in a Mo and/or W crucible.
