<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an active material having a high discharge capacity and mainly containing a lithium compound oxide including nickel, to provide an electrode including the active material, to provide an electrochemical device including an electrolyte solution including the electrode and lithium salt, and to provide a method of manufacturing the active material. <P>SOLUTION: The active material mainly contains a compound oxide expressed with a following formula (1) and the moisture content thereof is 200-350 mass ppm.
