The present invention relates to a method and a device for recognizing a recessed spot on the rear side of a vehicle which can inform a driver of the recessed spot by calculating the distance between a vehicle and an image pixel using video images of the rear side of the vehicle then recognizing the recessed spot on the rear side of the vehicle based on the calculated distance. The method for recognizing the recessed spot on the rear side of the vehicle according to the present invention includes (a) a step which acquires the images of the rear side of the vehicle; (b) a step which calculates the distance between the rear side of the vehicle and the ground surface corresponding to the pixel of the acquired image based on the acquired image; and (c) a step which recognizes the recessed spot based on the calculated distance. |
