Rack and method thereof for simultaneously updating basic input output systems

Updating firmware of a plurality of basic input output systems (BIOS) applied to a rack which comprises a rack management controller and a plurality of server nodes, updating may be done simultaneously. Rack management controller receives a BIOS firmware updating file 210 and generates an updating message to the plurality of baseboard management controllers in a plurality of server nodes 220. The baseboard management controller receives the updating message to download the firmware updating file from the rack management controller and to store it to a storage space 230. The baseboard management controller controls the memory to enter a recovery mode 240 after downloading the firmware updating file, and writes the firmware updating file into the memory to update the firmware of the basic input output system 250. If the updating message is not received the rack management controller may determine whether the number of times the message is not received is greater than a predetermined value and if it is an updating error message is generated.
