The wheel (10) has object retainers (14) comprising suction air openings that are loaded with suction air and/or compressed air. A cladding wall (20) is formed at a side of the wheel, where outer diameter of the wall is increased from a central object inlet (39) to the retainers. A guiding body (22) is arranged in an inner area enclosed by the wall, where outer contour of the body is connected with inner contour of the wall. Object channels (16) are formed at the outer contour of the body and guided from an object inlet-sided object retaining chamber (38) to the retainers. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for inserting objects into a material strand (2) a method for inserting objects into a material strand.
