The invention relates to a process for triggering at least one personal protection means. Said process comprises a step consisting in inputting a triggering signal 155 which contains a command (145, 320, 340, 360, figure 3) for carrying out activation of the personal protection means 140. The process further comprises a step consisting in enabling (220, figure 2) activation of the personal protection means in response to the triggering signal that has been inputted. Furthermore, the process comprises a step consisting in evaluating the triggering signal for the purpose of identifying the command (145, 340, 360) for carrying out the activation of the personal protection means and activating the latter in response to an identified command for carrying out the activation of said personal protection means in order to trigger the latter. The pre-processing of at least one sensor signal 115 may be carried out so as to determine whether the sensor signal fulfils a predetermined criterion before the triggering signal is outputted. The protection means may comprise an airbag, a seat belt tensioner or the like provided within a vehicle. |
