[Also in Division E2] A trouser "strap" which passes under the wearer's foot to tension the trouser legs is formed in the shape of an ankle sock which is detachable from the trouser leg. The ankle sock, preferably knitted of superpolyanoidic yarn, and shaped on a template under steam pressure has strips 11 (Fig. 5) of "Velcro" (Trade Mark) secured to the turn-over edge which engage with cooperating strips 9 (Fig. 3) on the lower edge of the trouser leg 8. In a further embodiment the "Velcro" strips extend the full width of the trouser leg and ankle sock edge a small gap being left in the strip on the trouser leg to allow the usual vertical cut to open when the trousers are put on. To ensure comfort the securing strip 35 (Fig. 16) may be fitted to an auxiliary strip 36 the selvedge 37 of which is secured to the trouser leg 38, the ankle sock 39 (Fig. 15) carrying the co-operating strip 41 on its inner surface, which is inserted between the auxiliary strip 36 and the inner surface of the trouser leg 38. The attachment means may in a modification comprise buttons and buttonholes and the ankle sock may be toeless. |
