The drum type rice washer of the present invention comprises a rice washer body having the upper part opened for putting in rice and water for washing; a cover combined with the upper part of the rice washer body to be opened and closed; a rotatory drum combined with the inside of the rice washer body to be rotated, and generating an eddy flow when washing the rice; and an operation part operating the rotatory drum. The cover comprises at least one friction generating part installed at the bottom to generate friction between the rice and the water when the eddy flow is generated by the rotation of the rotatory drum.
