1,042,045. Door operating devices. LUWA A.G. Aug. 14, 1963 [Aug. 27, 1962], No. 32116/63. Heading E2M A hinged room-closure device such as a concrete door or other heavy closure in an air raid shelter, includes means positioned inside the room for lifting the door from its hinges to provide an emergency exit. The lifting gear shown comprises suspension members 4 secured either in the door frame or at a higher point in the room, pulleys 10 mounted on the door, and cables or chains 6 the ends of which can be drawn together to lift the door by a turnbuckle 8. The pulleys 10 may each have a handle 18 (Fig. 4, not shown) to enable them to be manually turned to aid operation of the lifting gear. The door, when disengaged from the hinges; hangs from the members 4 and may be oscillated or pushed away from the door aperture, Fig. 1 (not shown). The lifting gear may be used to reposition the door on its hinges, markings 13, 14 being provided for this purpose on the door frame and door respectively; and may be detached from the door for storage when not required. In a modification a single pulley only may be used, positioned near the centre of gravity of the door. In a further modification, projecting pins may be used instead of pulleys.
|
