PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing platinum-iron alloy fine powder in which Fe can be restrained from being eluted by an acid and which is used suitably as an electrode catalyst of a fuel cell. SOLUTION: The method for producing platinum-iron alloy fine powder includes the steps of: dispersing platinum salt such as platinum (II) bis(acetylacetonate), iron salt such as ferric (III) tris(acetylacetonate) and carbon powder in polyol such as ethylene glycol to prepare a solution; heating the solution under reflux to synthesize the platinum-iron alloy fine powder deposited on the carbon powder; heat-treating the synthesized fine powder at≥600°C in an inert atmosphere; and washing the heat-treated fine powder with an acidic solution such as an aqueous solution of sulfuric acid.
