SUPPORT FRAME FOR A SLIDING DOOR

A support frame for a sliding door comprising upper and lower support frame members and a support column 6a-d attachable to the upper and lower support frame members to extend between said upper and lower support frame members. The support column comprises two stud sections, an inner section 15 and an outer section 16 that telescopically overlap and slide relative to each other so that the distance between the upper and lower frame members is able to be altered during installation. A reinforcement member 33 is preferably located within a channel 24 of the inner section. The reinforcement is preferably wood for example medium density fibreboard. The inner and outer sections may have return lips or tabs 20 27 for engaging each other or the reinforcement. The invention also relates to a support column for a sliding door support frame and a method of assembling a support frame for a sliding door.
