The invention comprises compounds of formulae <FORM:1023702/C2/1> <FORM:1023702/C2/2> wherein r, R1 and X each represent chlorine or bromine and R2 represents the trimethylammonium or pyridinium group; and their preparation substantially as described comprising reaction of compounds R,R1-Ph-CH =CH-CHO with bromine and then splitting off hydrogen bromide with alkali metal acetates, optionally followed by reaction with compounds [R2-CH2CONHNH2]+X- Compositions, fungistatic and bacteriostatic, comprise the above compounds with carriers; solutions, ointments, soaps and powders are mentioned.ALSO:Compositions, fungistatic and bacteriostatic, comprise, with carriers, cinnamaldehydes and hydrazides thereof of general formulae <FORM:1023702/A5-A6/1> wherein R, R1 and X represent chlorine or bromine and R2 represents the trimethylammonium or pyridinium group. Solutions, ointments, soaps, powders are mentioned and the use of the compounds in rinsing agents and disinfectants. |
