PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display a normal image and a narrow-band image simultaneously and acquire the high diagnostic accuracy narrow-band image. SOLUTION: The image acquisition device has an illumination light unit 10 sequentially illuminating an observation target with a plurality of light in different wavelength bands for one color from among light in the wavelength bands of three colors, a spectral image generation section 32 sequentially acquiring image signals of a plurality of wavelength components sequentially outputted from an imager by the illumination of the observation target with a plurality of light, performing spectral image processing for the image signals of the wavelength components by using estimated matrix data and sequentially generating monochromic image signals of a monochromic component, and an image signal acquisition section 34 acquiring image signals of the plurality of wavelength components as narrow-band image signals and combining image signals outputted from the imager by illuminating with the light of the colors other than the one color in the wavelength band with the single monochrome image signals and sequentially acquiring normal image signals showing the normal image of the observation target.
