The present invention relates to a composition for preparing a liquid crystal layer and a retarder prepared by using the same, and more specifically, to a composition for preparing a liquid crystal layer and a retarder prepared by using the same, wherein the composition can suppress the generation of static electricity without deterioration of an optical function by including a liquid crystalline compound, an antistatic agent which can be oriented with the liquid crystalline compound, a photopolymerization initiator, and an organic solvent.
