Apparatus for delivering a predetermined volume of lead into a mould 50 comprises a lead reservoir 4 with an outlet 6 in its base and a runway 30 beneath and spaced from the base. The runway 30 is parallel to the base and a block 10 having a through cavity 12 is slidably mounted between the base and the runway 30. The block 10 is reciprocable between first and second positions. In the first position (figure 1) the cavity 12 receives lead from the reservoir outlet 6 and in the second position (figure 3) the lead can be released from the cavity 12 into the mould 50. The lead flows into the mould 50 via a chute 40 which is moveable between a delivery position (figures 1-3) where a portion of the chute 40 is located over the mould 50 and a store position (figure 5) where the chute 40 is located below the plane defined by the upper surface of the mould 50. The chute 40 is moved to the store position by movement across the surface of the mould 50 and then in a direction perpendicular the plane of the mould surface. |
