PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a saddle type branch joint where an O-ring will not be partly removed from a fitting groove even if the branch pipe side is open or if water pressure within a main pipe is high, so that a seal plug exhibits stable waterproof performance at all times. SOLUTION: In the saddle type branch joint, the seal plug 2a includes a male screw part 21 threaded into a female screw cylinder part 51a provided along an inner surface of a branch pipe part 5, and a columnar seal part 22 extending in the direction of a main pipe 6 while reduced in diameter in steps from an end face of the male screw part 21. The seal plug is screwed into the main pipe 6 side, so that the seal part 22 fits into a seal hole part provided in the main pipe side end portion of the branch pipe part 5, so that the O-ring 24 fitted into an O-ring fitting groove provided in a peripheral surface of the seal part closes a gap between the seal hole part and the seal part in a watertight manner, thereby stopping fluid from flowing in from the main pipe to the branch pipe part.
