[Also in Division E2] Ties 5 (Fig. 1) providing interior reinforcement for a flexible skip 1 are independently secured in place by removable connections 9 such that the ties can be pushed inwardly when they are to be disengaged. Each tie may terminate in a bush 7 (Fig. 4) which can be supported within a split bush 11 fitting within a member 9 connected by bolts and a plate 14 to the wall of the skip. The exterior surface of the split bush may be stepped, as shown, or may be tapered. Alternatively the split bush 11 may be omitted and the tie 5 may terminate in a tapered bush taking into a slotted bore in the member 9, so that it can be removed by slacking the tie to permit the bush to be pushed sideways out of the slot. In the alternative arrangement of Fig. 8 a bight in the end of the tie is pushed into the member 9 and is then secured by a wedge 17 inserted transversely in the bight. The skip illustrated is of rubber reinforced with fabric and has upper and lower orifices 2, 3. The ties 5 preferably have a protective covering. |
